Restricted License
(CBTA 6R)
After obtaining your learner's licence, you can take the CBTA 6R assessment ride whenever you feel prepared. You don't need to wait 6-months!
The CBTA 6R assessment allows you to showcase your ability to ride independently and with confidence in everyday riding situations. You need to be at least 16½ years old to attempt your 6R.
What to bring? — Please bring closed-toe shoes, long pants, long sleeves, a helmet, and gloves. If using your own bike, ensure it's road-legal and meets all road safety standards.
Need a bike? A LAMS-approved motorbike can be provided for CBTA at a small additional cost.
WHAT'S INVOLVED
- A 50–60 minute ride on both urban streets and open roads
- Assessment of your road positioning, hazard awareness, braking, cornering, and general control
- Conducted on a LAMS-approved motorcycle (yours or one we provide)
